News Blog Category - News Dear Riverview families:

It is my pleasure to be the principal of Riverview Elementary. For those of you who don't know me, this will be my seventh year as an administrator in Marion Community Schools. Before coming to MCS, I taught fourth grade for 10 years. I grew up with parents who were both teachers, and I know that I entered education wanting to teach children because of them. I love working with children and seeing them grow in knowledge every year. As you noticed, I started off this letter addressing you as family. That's right! You are family to us, and we love working with you.

I am extremely excited to start this school year! Last year, we saw a lot of academic growth from our students. We will be laser focused on reading and math, but also not forgetting science and social studies. Our teachers have been working very hard with getting their classrooms and lessons ready for your child. Please work with your teacher and communicate with him or her if you have any questions or concerns. Your child's teacher has his/her best interest in mind.

Our vision:

Riverview Elementary School is a place where all students are encouraged to strive for excellence academically, socially, and emotionally in a safe and supportive atmosphere. Our goal is to work in partnership with our parents and community to create an environment where students are empowered to discover their strengths and achieve their maximum potential. Opportunities are available for enrichment, intervention, and remediateion as necessary. We set high expectations for all students. Our entire school community shares the belief that all children can and will learn.

I am asking that you do what you can this year to get involved with your child/children at Riverview. We have many fun events planned. We also have many ways to get involved: volunteering in a classroom, Parent Advisory Council, Parent Nights, Family Nights, PASS (PTO), chaperoning a field trip, and more! We will communicate those events through our website and Facebook page, newsletters, and email/phone/text messages. You are very important to us! If you ever have any questions or concerns, please email or call me. I want us to work together to bring out the true potential of your child/children. We are a team. We are a family.

Sincerely,

Lendon D. Schwartz, Principal
